Thought of the Day.

Carbohydrate calories should not come from refined foods that are high in sugars. This is one of the biggest mistakes that bodybuilders make. Foods that should be avoided are processed foods such as cake, pie, ice cream, and other sugar-laden foods. Even certain fruits, especially tropical fruits like pineapples, oranges, and bananas are high in sugar and should be minimized in the diet.

An Intro To Raw Rage

Hans Vogel always had a fascination with the sport of bodybuilding. As a youngster, Hans would spend countless Saturday mornings glued to the television watching Lou Ferrigno as “The Incredible Hulk” . With this growing passion, Hans already showing signs of determination, persuaded his uncle to teach him how to use the weights that he kept in his garden. Even though, he only started with a simple bicep curl, it secured in Hans mind, a pathway that would dictate the rest of his life. At the age of twelve, Hans moved to Germany where he trained with former German competitor Wolfgang Gatemann Wolfgang helped nurture his passion and when Hans returned to Ireland he set his sights on competition and coaching.

As any bodybuilder worth his salt will tell you, the willingness to push through your perceived limits will carve the way to success and physical change in your body. It’s this philosophy that Hans utilizes to help motivate his younger students and indeed motivates his love of coaching. Encouraging students to be pro active and energetic about their goals whatever their end goal allowing them to expand the life skills he himself developed along the way.

Competitive bodybuilding is a growing sport in Ireland, with little media coverage or support, this hasn’t stopped Hans wanting to be part of that upper circle, both supporting aspiring bodybuilders and competing himself. In 2001, he placed 2nd in his first competition in the First-timers class and 3rd in the Open class. This catapulted him to the national stage only one week later where he placed 3rd in the First-timers. Competing over the next few years only strengthened his desire to be the best and after adding some size to his physique he won the coveted 2007 Open class in Belfast. Now he’s soared to the superheavy weight category where he was just pipped for first place this years Limericks RIBBF show.
